Route
As we didn’t want the complications of a road walk from A to B, which would have required marshals, cars accompanying etc, we decided to look at ‘off road’ walks.
With this in mind we came up with the following route made up of canal and railway walks and coastal paths, starting in Aberdeen and working down the country. If for any reason we have to shorten any of the walks, (eg can’t get Great Danes over stiles) we have some spare walks in the Hull and York area we can do on our return journey.
ROUTE CHANGES (13/10/10) - because of access problems for the Danes, we have decided not to do the Lleyn Peninsula walk and have decided to include the Llangollen Canal instead, we have also added a few extra miles along the way (Galgate to Glasson Basin, Barbridge Marina to Middlewich, Marsworth Junction to Aylesbury, besides continuing on the Grand Union, past Berkhampsted to the outskirts of Hemel Hempstead), and may still add one or two others as we go to maintain our target of 500 miles.
